While the exact origins of Boxing Day aren’t completely known, one of the more well-known traditions of this holiday started several hundred years ago in England. At this time, Boxing Day — the day after Christmas — was when the wealthy landowners would bring gifts of food or other necessities to the homes of people who worked for them. Many countries have continued this tradition of being generous to those who are in need at this time of year, but Boxing Day around the world has also changed to include other festivities and events. So, here I am on the very edge of Disney World.
My college roommate Nikki flew into Orlando for a conference, and so I drove over to hang out with her for a while.
While she’s in her meeting, I decided to walk over to Downtown Disney to grab some lunch. I don’t get to the Disney area often, and wasn’t surprised to see massive amounts of people. But it was a bit surreal to see the Christmas decorations up when the weather’s a sunny, warm 80 degrees.
