It’s hard to believe but it’s already time for spring break, and this year it took some away-from-the-beach ideas to decide where my nephew and I are off to (with my sister in tow, of course!). Our past spring breaks have taken us to the gorgeous Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach, Disney World, and snorkeling and more in the Florida Keys. This year, though, work obligations and timing made it necessary to find a closer-to-home for my C and my sister, so we’re headed to Asheville and Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
There are so many other cool ideas for spring break, though, that I thought I’d share a few that I’ve come across with you for your planning purposes…
Santa Fe, New Mexico is rolling out the red carpet for kids, and their families, with a first-ever, community-wide Kids Stay Free promotion through March and into early April. If your nieces and nephews are 12 and under, the following could be free for them: accommodations, meals, skiing, spa treatments (sign me up!), art classes, sports activities, adventure packages, southwestern exhibits, attractions, and music and flamenco classes. Loads of fun to be had! Just click on the links above for more info!
The Big Cypress Lodge inside the in Memphis, Tennessee is offering a Family Fun Package through the spring: room accommodation of choice, a $30 food & beverage voucher, 1 hour of bowling at Uncle Buck’s for the family and a family welcome gift. Package starts at $315 plus tax for one night, or $556 plus tax for two nights.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Orlando was recently named the number-one spring break destination by Orbitz.com, and there are plenty of deals to be found. For example, Avanti Resort is offering rates starting at $79/night; the JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes is offering 20% off its rates and a $25 resort credit on stays that include a weekend (through March 31); and Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa is offering 20% off its rates.
Are you going on spring break with your nieces and nephews? If so, where?
